Private Charters Aboard the Schooner Liberty Star

The Liberty Star is a beautiful 67’ wooden schooner commissioned in 1972 and completed in 1982 in Harrington, ME. Originally christened the Rachel B. Jackson after the shipwright’s grandmother, the Star is a replica of an 1890s coastal schooner with sturdy mahogany planking, oak frames, traditional pine and fir decking, and exotic wooden cabinetry recalling the workmanship of days gone by.

The Star is available to charter in Boston Harbor from mid-May through September. Charters are offered for a minimum of 1.5 hours in the afternoons and 2 hours in the evenings. The ship can accommodate up to 39 guests in addition to its crew of three. Guests are welcome to help raise the sails or simply sit back and enjoy the fresh harbor air with unbeatable views of historic Boston.

We have multiple bar options available for private charters, including cash/consumption, limited open, and full open. Send us an email or give us a call to discuss pricing and availability!

Location

We are located at Fan Pier Marina in the Seaport District, right along Boston’s scenic Harbor Walk. The Seaport is home to many excellent restaurants and breweries as well as the Boston Children’s Museum and the Institute of Contemporary Art.

You can access our dock at Fan Pier via the gangway to the right of Reel House Oyster Bar. Follow the arrow marked “Liberty Fleet Boarding” down the gangway to the outer dock and look for the blue-hulled sailboat. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your sail to facilitate an on-time departure from the dock.

The Marina is a 20 minute walk from South Station or a 5 minute walk from the Courthouse bus stop on the MBTA SL1, SL2, or SL3 outbound bus lines (which run from South Station).

From the Aquarium we are a 25 minute stroll along the scenic Harbor Walk. We are also a 20 minute walk from the State House and Faneuil Hall.

There are multiple public parking garages within a few minutes of Fan Pier Marina. If you enter “10 Waterside Ave, Boston” into your map program it will bring you right to the boarding area.

Catering Options

Feel free to bring your own food aboard for the charter or ask us for a list of preferred caterers. Unfortunately, we cannot allow any outside beverages to be brought aboard due to our liquor license. Keep in mind if you are bringing your own food that it can get windy out on the water! Also, large food trays will reduce the amount of cabin-top seating.
